Mental Health Resources

A School Social Worker (SSW) is a mental health professional who works with students, families, and school administration to help students succeed academically and socially. SSWs are trained to address a variety of issues, including mental health, behavioral concerns, and bullying. They also work to create a supportive environment for students to learn and grow.

The school social worker is a licensed mental health professional and can provide the following social-emotional support to students at Explorer Elementary:

• Individual Support
• Group Support
• Crisis Intervention
• Connection to Local Resources
• Classroom Presentation
• Tiered intervention 

School Social Workers do not provide ongoing therapy for children. If your child is in need of support beyond the scope of the school setting, the mental health support team at Explorer Elementary can make recommendations and provide resources for local agencies and providers. A School Psychologist is a licensed mental health professional dedicated to supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. School psychologists are skilled in conducting psychological assessments, providing counseling, and implementing intervention strategies to help students succeed both in the classroom and beyond. They collaborate with school staff, families, and community resources to ensure that each student receives the support they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

Our Mental Health/Wellness Specialist helps to ensure and facilitate Social Emotional Learning opportunities at Explorer Elementary including: classroom lessons using Zones of Regulation Curriculum to build social emotional skills and providing teacher resources to facilitate social emotional skills throughout classroom routines and environments.
